Brolly has several new features and improvements being released in September 2025.
Overview
This release introduces Document Storage for Brolly, giving SPED staff a centralized place to upload, manage, and access student-related documents directly within the platform. Documents can now be attached to service, progress, and activity logs, or stored at the student profile level — eliminating the need to source files from multiple systems. This release also includes a migration of Brolly's in-app customer support platform from Freshdesk to Zendesk, ensuring users continue to have seamless access to help documentation and support without any disruption to their workflow.
Document Storage
Document Uploads
- Users can now upload multiple documents of various file types — including PDFs, Word documents, JPGs, PNGs, and external links (URLs) — directly within Brolly
- Documents can be uploaded at the student profile level or attached to individual service, progress, and activity logs
Multiple documents can be uploaded in a single action via the multi-document upload interface
Student Document Page
- A new unified Student Documents page provides a single view of all documents associated with a student, including those uploaded directly and those attached via logs
- Documents can be searched, filtered, and sorted for easy access
The Document Type column now reflects district-defined document types (e.g., IEP, behavior plan, work sample, assessment)
Document Viewing & Downloading
- Documents can be previewed directly within Brolly without needing to download them first
Individual documents can be downloaded from both the Student Documents page and within log entries
Document Archiving
- Documents that are no longer actively needed can be archived rather than permanently deleted, preserving them for historical reference
- Archived documents are hidden from the main document list by default but remain accessible by filtering for "Archived" status
- Archived documents can be restored to active status at any time
- Bulk archiving and bulk restoration are supported
- Preview and download functionality remains available for archived documents
Log Entry Enhancements
- The "Image" column in log entry grids has been renamed to "Documents" to reflect expanded file type support
- Log entries now display a document count indicator when multiple files are attached
- Documents attached to a log remain in draft status until the log is submitted
Document Types
- Administrators can define custom document types at the district level
Users can assign a document type when uploading, helping organize and categorize student files
Notes
- Existing logs with a single image attachment have been migrated to the new document model with no action required from users.
Support Platform Migration: Freshdesk to Zendesk
Brolly has migrated its in-app customer support platform from Freshdesk to Zendesk. This is an infrastructural change and users should experience no interruption in support availability.
What's Changed
- The Help Center link on the Admin page and in the Help dropdown menu now directs to Brolly's new Zendesk knowledge base
- The Submit a Ticket link in the Help dropdown now directs to the Zendesk ticket submission form
- The in-app support chatbot has been updated to Zendesk's chatbot and appears in the same position as before
What Stays the Same
- The visual appearance and position of all Help menu items are unchanged
- Users can access the same help documentation and submit support tickets without any additional login requirements
